## What learners learn

- 208 everyday English words, taught in 32 small groups of 6–8 words
- 441 English sentences with Marathi translations
- 40 short conversations, such as greetings, introducing yourself and your family, school, food, asking the way, at the doctor, shopping, phone calls and making plans
- Pronunciation: each word shows how it sounds in Devanagari, for example water → वॉटर, school → स्कूल

The course moves slowly: one new sentence pattern per group, and every fourth group is a review-and-conversation group. Sentences only use words the learner has already been taught.

## How a lesson works

- Each group has 6 short lessons of 6 questions.
- New words are introduced first, with their Marathi meaning, a tap-to-listen button, and Bittu the monkey, who acts out words like "here", "under", "his" and "her".
- Question types: meaning, matching, listening, spelling, speaking (with speech recognition), and sentence questions (meaning, listening, building the sentence, saying it aloud).
- Questions answered wrongly come back in the same lesson until they are answered correctly.
- A Study page shows each learner's recent mistakes, which words are new, being learned or known, the group's conversations in a boy and a girl voice, and a daily review of earlier words.
